Brake oil helps to move the various components of your vehicle’s braking system. The oil works under high temperatures and high pressure and, without it, your car would not be able to stop when you push the brake pedal. Brake oil is a non-compressible substance that is in the brake lines and it delivers the force created by your push to the brake rotors on the four corners of your vehicle. This applies pressure to the wheels. This pressure of the brake oil causes the brake rotors to squeeze down on brake pads, which then make contact with the wheels and eventually slows or stops your movement. Brake oil has a wide variety of types. The main types are the glycol-based and silicone-based oils. Glycol-based brake oils are used in vehicles with anti-lock brake systems (ABS) while silicone-based ones are used in those without ABS. Over time, brake fluid can absorb water from the air, which affects the proper working of the fluid. It is therefore important to periodically drain the oil out and replace it with new one to ensure proper brake oil function.
It is recommended you change brake oils every one to two years, although every vehicle has different maintenance requirements. You can as well check your owner’s manual for the recommended brake oil changing schedule. Browse through our selection of Premium brake oils and find the right replacement that works best.
